Current status of national integrated gasification fuel cell projects in China

Abstract Coal has been the main energy source in China for a long period. Therefore, industry must improve coal power generation efficiency and achieve near-zero CO 2 emissions. Integrated gasification fuel cell (IGFC) systems that combine high-temperature cells, such as solid oxide cells or molten carbonate (MCFCs), are proving to be promising efficient clean generation, compared with traditional coal-fired plants. In 2017, support of National Key R&D Program China, consortium led by Energy Group including 12 institutions was formed develop advanced IGFC technology The objectives this project include understanding performance an system under different operating conditions, designing master principles engineering optimization, developing key technologies intellectual property portfolios, setting up supply chains materials equipment, first megawatt demonstration emission, early 2022. paper, developments projections pertaining highlighted.
